Game Summary
Posh Alexander put in the first basket of the game for the Johnnies to get them on the board. Shortly after Posh’s opening bucket, JUCO transfer Vince Cole checked into the game and hit his first, second, and third three of the game. He then hit the shot right before the half and went into the locker room 4-4 from the field with 11 points. Cole is a certified bucket getter. Isaih Moore also had a notable performance tonight. Moore played a lot of minutes and came out agressive from the start in this one. He finished one rebound away from a double-double and showed that he will be a main guy for Mike Anderson this season.
The Peacocks and Red Storm traded leads several times throughout the game, even when St. John’s began to build momentum, Saint Peter’s never went away. The Johnnies were plagued with missed layups and turnovers in the second half of this one and made things a little too interesting down the stretch. Down 75-71 with 28 seconds left to play, Vince Cole decided it was winning time. He drove to the hoop for a quick deuce to make it 75-73. Then with 16 seconds remaining, Posh Alexander chased down a faulty in bounds pass from St. Peters, pushed it up the floor, gave it to Greg Williams Jr, who found Vince Cole in the corner for a three and BANGGGGG. The rest is history and the Johnnies hold on to win.
Play of the Game
A pretty obvious choice for play of the game. What a beautiful fucking sight to see. Cole is cold-blooded but let’s give Posh some love on this play too. Without him this play doesn’t happen. He is so fast and straight up beat the Saint Peter’s kid to the ball.
Players of the Game
Today’s SJU Barstool Players of the Game: Posh Alexander AND Vince Cole
Posh Alexander
Alexander was a major bright spot in an overall shaky game for the Red Storm. He looked comfortable on the floor from the opening tip. He poured in 16 points, pulled down 7 rebounds, and tallied FIVE steals. At times it looked as if he was just stealing the ball at will. His overall game was impressive to watch and worked perfectly in Mike Anderson’s fast paced, full-court system. He came into this one with high expectations and he exceeded them. While he made huge plays all night, his biggest play came at the very end of the game where he sprinted down the court, stole the ball, and got it up the court which eventually led to the game winner. That play perfectly exemplified Posh’s work ethic and hustle and it won the game tonight for the Red Storm
Vince Cole
Last season St. John’s lacked a reliable three point shooting option….well we sure as hell found our guy. Vince Cole came out firing off the bench tonight. He hit three 3-pointers almost immediately after checking into the game including this one above. His jump-shot is effortless and he shot confidently all night going 6-8 from beyond the arc. An overall incredible game from the newcomer was capped off by the go-ahead shot that gave us the win tonight. Vince is a bad man and I can’t wait to watch him shoot the lights out this year.

Gambling Results
Welp. Unfortunately for us St. John’s gamblers, we suffered a loss on the 9.5 point spread. We had several chances to run away with this one and cover the spread but tonight wasn’t our night. We saw a lot of growing pains for our boys tonight and were lucky to sneak out of this one with a win.
Back at it tomorrow against La Salle at 2:00 PM from Queens. The boys look to get win number two and hopefully cover the point spread too.
